Do I need a WV Fishing license if I do a little fishing while at Jamboree?
The Summit Center Staff informs us that they have confirmed that you do not need a WV license.
So, if you want to do a little “catch and release” on your day off (and, on Summit property), go right ahead!
STEM Nova Costs
If it’s the first Nova the youth has earned, it’s $4.79 http://www.scoutstuff.org/emb-nova-bs.html#.WSMjmzPMzOY
If they have already earned one Nova, subsequent ones are indicated by a pin worn on the Nova patch – $1.49 http://www.scoutstuff.org/device-nova-pi-award.html#.WSMjvzPMzOY
Staff Outbound Postal Shipping
FYI, we will have a mail drop in STEM Quest. Packages with proper USPS postage affixed can be dropped in the Ops tent, and the postal service will pick them up on July 27th and 28th. These procedures may be used for program or personal items (unlike inbound shipping, which is for program materials only).

Cell and Wifi Coverage
The only way to describe the Cell and Wifi Coverage is “Outstanding”!
The tower at each base camp is a full Cell Tower providing excellent 4G coverage. AT&T and Verizon users report strong signals and high data rates. TMobile users report good signals and reasonable data speeds.
AT&T has installed 700 Wi-Fi APs throughout the camp as well as 10,000 Fiber miles of fiber in the ground to provide connectivity to all those AP’s, the Cell Towers, and many other services.
Also, there are LOTS of charging stations available. The STEM Quest area will have a recharging station designated for Staff Only use.
Is there a STEM Quest “Class B” Uniform?
While the Field Uniform is always appropriate, there will also be an official STEM Quest t-shirt/polo that Staff Members can order – and this year it will be shipped direct to you in advance of the Jamboree.
When we are ready to take orders for the STEM Quest shirts, notices will be posted on this FAQ, and on the STEM Quest Jamboree Staff Facebook Page.
Youth Protection Training
*You must complete Youth Protection Training (YPT) within one year of the
National Scout Jamboree. *
A new YPT will be released before the Jamboree, but any version of YPT is
acceptable provided it was the current version when taken, and within one
year of the Jamboree.
You can update your YPT Training with your account at http://my.scouting.org
JamboLink
Timely, effective communication is essential to a successful Jamboree experience. Efforts to transform how staff, participants, leaders and guests are informed have been improving since the close of the 2013 National Scout Jamboree, and have taken an additional step forward this month with the launch of JamboLink.
JamboLink is the location for all news leading up to and through the 2017 National Scout Jamboree. JamboLink is a multi-platform experience, designed to provide the most up-to-date information in the most convenient way possible for everyone.

Medical Requirements
In order to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree, ALL participants (Staff, Leaders and Youth) are required to have a medical exam and submit the BSA’s required Annual Health and Medical Record (AHMR).
Below is the link to the 2017 NSJ Annual Health and Medical Record on-line submission process. You will be required to enter a valid username and password to access your AHMR.
Work and Play
We’ll be running Program during the days, with each evening “off duty” as our areas will not be operating. However, there are various activities and stage shows where we may be asked to help out.
The saying goes, “Many Hands make for Light Work”. And it’s as true for Jamboree too! As we form up as a team we would like everyone to recruit one or two to others! More Staff, more Time Off!
STEM Quest Jamboree Staff Application
You can apply to be on the 2017 National Jamboree Staff online by clicking the big orange button!
Make sure that you select 6372 as your requested Volunteer Staff Position!
If you have talked with one of our STEM Quest Staff Members, please add a comment (i.e. Talked with Scott Medlock) in one of the freeform fields of the online application. This will help us know who recruited you!

Team Formation
We will be doing a survey after Christmas and creating teams in February and March. We will try to put staff on teams in areas they prefer or have experience in.
Transportation
There will be a lot of walking to/from at the 2017 National Jamboree. But, the 2017 Jamboree will feature a greatly expanded busing system. There are 11 planned routes for the 2017 National Scout Jamboree to make staffing just a tad easier.
Staff Camp
STEM Quest Staff will be residing in Basecamp Echo for the 2017 National Jamboree.
Each tent has 4 bunks and you can request your 3 tent mates. They may be anyone else on staff (same gender, obviously). The STEM Quest Staff will be assigned to the same area in Basecamp Echo so we can enjoy our downtime as well as worktime together.
You can request your tentmates, etc. at the following link (which you should have received via email):
